This restaurant is opposite Leunig's Bistro on Church Street. It's bigger than Leunig's; if we have overflow reservations (and you aren't crazy about the French food at Chez Margot's) then this is an easy place to increase the number of attendees, however there is still seating for five additional people on our reservation for 12. So far we have Cathy Cain, Kathy Kruger, Nancy Ferry, Denise Goswell, Sue Graf, Kate Barry and Diane Judge signed up. We can easily add the expected five more plus any overflow.
I will give the restaurant the final count on Friday, June 1.
Poor Chez Margot! No one is signing up to eat dinner here. The food is really good, the atmosphere is nice, the service is excellent. The restaurant is on College Street about one block off Church Street heading towards the lake.
I will cancel the reservation (or adjust the number) right after out Thursday Kick-Off Dinner.
I cannot tell you right now who has registered for the Luncheon. If you haven't done so yet, please do so soon. It's the centerpiece of the reunion weekend. I have requested the names of the 1968 sign-ups to date. As soon as I get those names I will post them here.
The Luncheon is, by non-profit regs, a business meeting for the TCVTAAF. Kim Hamel (president) will give a presentation, there will be a treasurer's report, announcement of the TCVTAAF Annual Scholarship recipient, the organization's "charitable focus", as well as the presentation of the TC alumni of the year award. I plan to make a very short speech to explain what we, as a class, have done. The Scholarship Committee (ours) will award the $4000 one-time gift to our recipient. I know that there are many applicants and that our Committee is busy making a selection. (I guess we cannot call our gift a scholarship since it is not an annual thing.)
Look here for names of attendees.
This event is set-up by the alumni association as a prelude to the weekend. Many alumni who will not be attending the Saturday Luncheon will stop by here to say hello. It's a lot of fun, very noisy, lots of hugs; runs until 7 or so. I (Carol) plan to go to the Ghost Walk after this; maybe grab a quick bite right at Trader Duke's before heading downtown.
Breakfast at Trader Duke's to say good-bye. This is simply a dedicated location to grab a coffee (or more) before leaving town. It's not formal, it's in the regular restaurant, and if you are there, great! One last chance to say "What a long, strange trip its been."
